Substance use rarely shows up on its own. For some, it’s a way of managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or the weight of family stress — a coping strategy that made sense at the time but has stopped working.
For others, the substance use itself has become the primary concern, regardless of what else is going on underneath it. At Root to Rise, we meet you wherever you are on that spectrum, because the right kind of support depends on which one is true for you right now.
We offer two connected paths of care, and we’ll help you figure out — together — which one fits, or whether you need both.
When substance use is entangled with anxiety, depression, trauma, or family stress
When drinking, using, or other compulsive behaviors are tangled up with something deeper — unresolved trauma, chronic anxiety, depression, or ongoing family conflict — we offer psychotherapy that explores the deeper “why” alongside practical skill-building. This isn’t just about stopping a behavior; it’s about understanding what the behavior has been doing for you, and building a life where you don’t need it to cope. Therapy in this track blends insight-oriented work with concrete tools, so you’re not just talking about change — you’re practicing it.
When substance use or chemical dependency is the primary concern
When substance use or chemical dependency is the central issue on its own, we provide structured, evidence-based LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor) services — care specifically designed and credentialed for substance use treatment. This track focuses on:
- Relapse prevention: identifying triggers and high-risk situations before they become setbacks
- Coping strategies: practical, sustainable tools to manage cravings and stress without substances
- Motivation-building: strengthening your own reasons for change, at your own pace
- Harm reduction: meeting you where you are, with realistic, non-judgmental strategies to reduce risk
This is structured, goal-oriented work with concrete tools for sustainable recovery — not a one-size-fits-all program, but a plan built around your history, your goals, and your definition of what recovery looks like.
You don’t have to sort out which track you need before you call
Many people come to us unsure whether their drinking or use is “the problem” or a symptom of something else — and that’s a completely normal place to start. Part of our intake process is helping you understand what’s driving what, so your care plan actually addresses the right target. Some clients move between tracks over time, or work with both a therapist and an LCDC counselor concurrently.
